Designing a piece with Jade for my 50th was more than I could have hoped for.

I had no idea what I wanted, but Jade’s expertise made it such fun! She showed me a range of beautiful stones and sketched designs that helped me to refine my dream piece.

My husband and I were approaching a milestone anniversary and my husband wanted to buy me an eternity ring.   Jade had previously designed the most amazing necklace for my birthday so the choice for a ring designer was easy! 

Working with Jade was a delight from the outset. I had some very simple ideas and over a number of meet ups Jade and I discussed my ideas.  What I later realised is that through these discussions Jade was not only formulating a design but thinking through what gemstones and materials would work best. 

Jade has an amazing eye for design which is complemented with a deep knowledge of gemstones and jewellery making.  Jade quickly located the perfect gemstone and came to me with a number of ring designs – in all honesty, they were all beautiful and I would have been happy with any of them.  In the end I picked the perfect design.

Jade Thomas Jewellery designed and created the most stunning necklace for me personally on the occasion of my 50th birthday. Having known Jade for a number of years I asked her advice initially on a particular “stone” I was interested in. Jade discussed qualities and possible uses (necklace / ring) as well as the ethics of where to source the stone from as my husband and I are interested in sustainability.

Once the stone was in my possession Jade suggested several ways that we could set and enhance the stone. Quickly she provided me with some “mock-up” designs to look at and it was very easy for me to choose the one I liked. We discussed materials to use and prices of making the piece up and I was delighted that we were able to use Fairtrade wherever possible.

Jade organised the making-up – all I had to do was wait, excitedly!

Jade oversaw the production and sent me a photograph when my piece was ready for collection. She then advised me on different chains that would suit and shared her helpful thoughts on what would work on different occasions. Her understanding of the process and the end result meant that she guided me with insight that I simply don’t have because I am not a connoisseur nor a professional in the jewellery world – but Jade is.

The whole experience was exciting and I have a beautiful necklace, unique to me and it actually feels part of me when I wear it. If this is my only occasion of having a piece commissioned then it is something I will remember forever; and if I am in a position in the future to have other pieces commissioned, I will be returning to Jade Thomas Jewellery.
