Designing since primary school, and not just jewellery!
I was constantly drawing throughout school ... anything from buildings, logos, shoes, clothes to posters! I still love creating designs (and buying shoes) to this day!
After university, I got my first job as a junior designer. I spent the next 4 years working my way up to the role of senior designer and then in January 2000 I set up my own design agency, designing logos, websites and marketing materials.
In 2015 I embarked on a year long Diploma in Creative Jewellery, which sparked my interest in making beautiful, tangible, wearable pieces. I then continued onto the Advanced Diploma, proudly gaining a Distinction in both courses.
I'm really passionate about jewellery that tells a story, and I’ve spent quite some time researching and importing beautiful, interesting gemstones and designing them into unique pieces of jewellery which are made in Hatton Garden by a very experienced (and lovely) team of jewellers.
My Branding & Web Design business is called Eau Rouge Ltd and for my Jewellery designs, I use ‘Eau Rouge Ltd. trading as Jade Thomas Jewellery’.
I hope you like my pieces!

Jewellery Design: Behind the scenes
My designs always start with the gemstone. Sometimes I see a beautiful stone, or sometimes I search for the perfect stone (even if it takes years, like my star sapphires and Alexandrite!) I view the stones and then spend a bit of time deciding what pieces of jewellery they are to be made in to.
I’ll either start with sketches in pen, or I’ll jump straight into Photoshop to develop and preview my designs.
Once I’m happy, my fabulous team of jewellers in Hatton Garden arrange CAD drawings and then make the pieces.
When they are finished, the pieces are sent to the London Assay Office for Hallmarking.
Then it’s off to the photographers and finally I put them on my website!
I also hand-make some jewellery, silver pieces, purely for fun!
