8 questions with Jenny at Jenny Draper Ltd.

Showcasing like-minded business owners who love gemstones and appreciate great design!

Tell me a little about your business and what its purpose is

My business is all about developing people and helping them be the very best they can be. Having spent a number of years in senior leadership roles, I decided to make a life change enabling me to focus my attention on what energises and excites me most; helping others fulfil their potential. I see my sessions with my clients as an opportunity to leave them in a better place than when I started with them. I achieve this through 1-1 coaching to unlock their potential, be the best version of themselves and enabling a workable plan for success. I focus on 3 main areas:

  • Career Change and Transition Coaching

  • Executive Coaching

  • Sales, Service, Leadership and Cultural Evolution Training & coaching

Where did your passion for your business come from?

I went through a challenging period in my life as a result of sudden and prolonged illness. My previous employer was tremendously supportive, but I knew that moving forwards I wanted to focus on a career that supported my lifestyle and wellbeing, whilst fulfilling my career values of helping others. This led to me setting up my own company where I could shape my own destiny and work with a diverse range of people. My business enables me to reach out to those who work in large or smaller organisations, those with their own business, or help those who have limited development opportunities in their current role.

How have you adapted your business to the current climate?

Training in large groups has inevitably gone on hold for the time being. All of my one to one work has switched to Zoom and telephone, which has been surprisingly successful. Previously, my thoughts around coaching were that you need to be physically present and invested in the face to face meeting of clients in order to create a safe and productive space for coaching. Using technology to maintain and start new coaching relationships has been a resounding success! Even for the most intrepid user of video technology quickly slips into a natural and open dialogue and I often find the extent of the trust, honesty and openness in our discussions moves to a strong place very quickly which was an added benefit.

What top three tips would you give to someone looking to start their own business right now?

  1. Create a business around something you love and are good at

  2. Be prepared to reach out and ask for support or opportunities, people are generally very willing to support your new venture

  3. Continue to evolve and change, develop your self and your proposition to remain fresh and current

Do you have a favourite beauty product/find?

I am a big fan of Clarins Double Serum, but I have also discovered ‘The Ordinary’ products recently. Their Hyaluronic Acid is amazing and a bargain price too!

What’s your secret recipe, ingredient or tipple?

Cherry Scones – a basic recipe that receives lots of compliments!

How would you describe your style?

I like to follow current trends, and know what works for me in terms of shape and design. I’ve always loved animal print, so the current and long lasting trend works well for me. I’m short and struggle with my weight, so the one thing I like to splurge on is a lovely handbag and purse, Kate Spade is a big favourite of mine.

What kind of jewellery do you wear? Do you have a jewellery wish list?

I stick with my everyday pieces, diamond stud earrings, engagement ring, wedding band and eternity ring.  I also wear a heart ring on my right ring finger, which always attracts lots of attention. This piece brings me great pleasure as it was a mothers day gift from my children.

Thanks Jenny! Oh, a fellow Kate Spade fan!
