This stunning 2.05ct cushion cut Sapphire is 8.8mm wide x 6.7mm wide and 3.7mm deep. It has been heated to bring out the beautiful blue and this is the norm for sapphires.
I purchased it on the 1st September 2019.
The sapphire comes from the Chimwadzulu mine and was brought to market by Columbia Gem House, a very well-established responsible gem trader based in the USA that had a long association with the mine until a couple of years ago.

This particular sapphire was mined in 2002 and cut at Columbia Gem House's facility in China, which is very closely monitored by them.
My dealer - who runs the ethical gem company nineteen48 - obtained the sapphire via Columbia Gem House's representative in London, Fair Trade Gemstones, so this sapphire has a very transparent and traceable route to market.
Caring for Sapphires
Sapphires are 9 on the Mohs Scale, and are typically very durable.
For cleaning, it is best to use warm soapy water and a soft cloth. As with most gemstones, avoid ultrasonic cleaners and steamers, especially with fracture-filled star sapphire; vibrations and heat can damage stones.
Always remove gemstone jewellery or gemstones before exercising, cleaning or engaging in harsh physical activities. Do not expose star sapphire gemstones to acid and store them away from other gemstones to avoid scratches.
